One of the activities of BUREAU DOOVE will be to help artists to realise their dream projects. The first project I hope to help get on its way is that of the internationally acclaimed artist Robyn Woolston. Her work evolves very much around sustainability, waste and the environment. It has been published within the New York Times, The Green Party Magazine and National Geographic as well as being covered by BBC and ITV. It was thus no wonder that Robyn was invited to attend the World Conference on Solid Waste Management ISWA2014 that takes places from 8th-11th September in Sao Paulo, Brasil. The conference pays for her conference costs and the production of photographic work to show while there but more money is needed to make this residency fully possible and to create a new body of work. Attending the conference is a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to deepen her understanding of cutting-edge industrial processes within the recycling and reprocessing arena which will inform her environmentally driven art practice.
Robyn has set up a beautiful sponsoring call at http://www.sponsume.com/project/são-paulo-residency-2014. She offers prints and talks in return for your support but is also open to other proposals like creating content for your institution or organisation’s website in the form of documentary photography or text. Delivering a workshop around the use of waste material inspired by her stay in Brazil is another possibility.
So visit the websites linked above and help her realise her dream project. Leave any questions or remarks and we will get back to you asap.
Thanks!
