BUREAU DOOVE – /ˈbjʊərəʊ ˈdəʊvə/

Bureau Doove

Slightly excited as I have decided to bundle all my free-lance activities under a new name. This as a replacement of the former edprojects which had its time and that I put to sleep some time ago. But I have always been better at doing a lot of things at the same time rather than just the one. And I like inventing names for what I do so there we have it, BUREAU DOOVE – /ˈbjʊərəʊ ˈdəʊvə/ , including some helpful pronunciation indicators.

My ‘bureau’ or desk tends to get filled with many things. Heaps of books in the first place, sunglasses, cups and glasses, a Chinese waving cat and sometimes a live cat. In his ‘Notes Concerning the Objects that are on my Work-table’ Georges Perec writes: “I like it to be as empty as possible. But most often, I prefer it to be cluttered, almost to excess.” It is a very beautiful text, as almost everything by Perec, and for me it indicates in the first place the kind of dynamic I want BUREAU DOOVE – /ˈbjʊərəʊ ˈdəʊvə/  to have – sometimes empty but preferably cluttered, almost to excess, operating alongside anything else that is going on. A playground without a clear definition in which I can put my thinking, writing, making on the table and hopefully be of use to anyone who wants to play along.

More to follow.
